walked into 02 fitness, excited and frankly afraid. the first person I saw was Diane Steelman...what a great way to start...fellow committee member and she looks amazing. Put me at ease.
Met Adam Freeman in person. As a personal trainer, you can see why he is so successful. He is a personable and as any person you would want to meet. He and his wife's story and the story of why he wants to work with the Heart Association and train me so that I can share this experience is nothing short of captivating and amazing. I will share that later. Needless to say..it is just one blessing after another.
02 is awesome. Staff is amazing. Machines are top of the line...and the amazing cardio room that is so serene...wow!
we spent most of our time this evening letting Adam get to know me and what has gone on: Quit smoking in 1998, got a desk job, went inactive, changed meds, type two diabetes, went from 36-38 waist to 54....from 230 to 350. Seems like overnight..but it was insidious. Huge family issues with Heart Disease, both grandmother's passed, Dad with extensive issues, and then there was friend who literally died at my feet of a massive heart attack. I just want to get in better shape and be healthier.
The biggest conversation was schedule...I tend to stay a little busy..But I have to get my priorities right and be honest. I cannot get up at 5:30 in the morning and working out in the evening sucks. While i am willing to be flexible, it was amazing how, it was open to start at 7. I can get there at 7. Done.
My homework was to get heart monitor (polar) and copy of diet from Heidi Kaufman (the dietician).
Tomorrow at 7am..we start cardio. I have to learn what my fat burning level is. given how much I have worked out, it probably won't take much.
I am grateful for this beyond words. I will earn this gift and share what I learn and maybe, others will learn from it to! here's to the next "one day at a time" for this journey...but thank God for Today!
